Know all men by these presents that I John Eaton of the County of York and State of Virginia, do freely manumit, set free and emancipate a girl called Joanna Wade for her meritorious conduct towards me. She is declared from the date hereof to be freed from me, or those claiming through me, she being descended partly from the whites are fully worthy of that blessing which the God of nature has decreed their [?favorite rate?]. Given under my hand and seal in the great year of Jubilee (which took place at Jamestown, Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and seven) May 25th 1807.
