I Thomas B Griffin of Yorktown in Virginia, do hereby certify and make known that the bearer hereof named Sally, a light mulatto girl, long hair, sharp nose, black eyes aged about ten years is a free person being born of a free woman named Kitty who has lived in my family from her birth and I hereby renounce and disclaim for myself and for my heirs, all and any right, title or property in the said girl named Sally or which may have been supposed to have been in me. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of January in the year eighteen hundred and nineteen.

This deed of emancipation was acknowledged by Thomas B. Griffin as and for his act and deed & admitted to record according to law.
