Know all men by these presents that we Thomas Harwood and Dorothy his wife, Bennett K. Barham and Jane his wife, and William and Margaret his wife for and in consideration of the good conduct of our mulatto woman slave named Polly formerly the property of Frances Lee dec’d of the County of York have liberated, emancipated and set free the said mulatto woman named Polly. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen.

At a court held for York County the 20th day of September 1819. This deed pf emancipation was proved as to William Lee by the oath of William Power, and as to Margarett Lee by the oath of Frederick Bryan & continued for further proof as to the other parties. And at another court held for the said County the 18th day of November 1822, this deed of emancipation was acknowledged by said William Lee and proved as to Thomas Harwood and Bennett K. Barham by the oath of John Haywood, a witness thereto and ordered to be recorded.
