Know all men by these presents that I Benjamin White of the City of Williamsburg for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and do bear to and for my son & slave Benjamin White late the property of the Hon’ble John Blair of whom I purchased the said Benjamin White my son, do by these presents set free, emancipate and discharge the said Benjamin my son and slave from all manner of service and servitude and do declare him to be in a perfect state of freedom and entitled to all the advantages, immunities, and privileges which I legally can enjoy. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirty first day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three.
