To all whom it may concern know ye that we William Mallory and Martha his wife, Augustine Tabb, Elizabeth Smith, and Frances Powell of the County of York for certain reasons us thereunto moving, but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings to us in hand paid by our negro girl slave Matilda, do by these presents manumit the said slave for us our heirs, Executors, and Administrators to all intents and purposes in as full and ample a manner as is consistent with the laws of Virginia, and against all and every person and persons to her the said Matilda her freedom forever do engage to warrant and defend. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this third day of November one thousand seven hundred and ninety two.

At a court held for York County the 15th day of April 1793. This deed of emancipation was proved by the oaths of Henry Howard a witness thereto and at another court held for the said county the seventeenth day of June 1793, the said deed was proved by the oath of John Russell another witness thereto and ordered to be recorded.
