Know all men by these presents that I George Wythe do hereby set free my negro man slave Charles who is above the age of eighteen and under the age of forty five years. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirteenth day August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight.
