I Nancy Eaton of Surry County, having under my care one negro man named Jacon, aged fifty four years, which negro I have held as a slave but being fully persuaded that freedom is the natural right of all mankind, I do hereby emancipate and set free the said Jacob to all intent and purposes against me my heirs or assigns In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and sea. This 23rd of February Anno Dom 1797~
