Know all men by these presents that I Willam Bernard of the County of Spotsylvania & State of Virginia have manumitted, emancipated and set free and by these presents do manumit, emancipate and set free a negro man slave named Harry, and I hereby declare him the said Harry to be entirely liberated from slavery and entitled to all the rights and privileges of a free person with which it is in my power to vest him, he the said Henry is a man of rather dark complexion about 5 feet 2 ¾ inches high and about 65 years old. In testimony whereof I have affixed hereto my hand and seal this 26th day of June 1832.

This deed of emancipation from William Bernard to slave Harry was proved by the oaths of John M. Herndon and John J. Chew, two of the witnesses thereto and is ordered to be recorded.
