Know all men by these presents that I Zachariah Billingsley of the parish of Berkely in the County of Spotsylvania (for divers good causes me hereunto moving) do hereby emancipate and set free my negro man slave Tom commonly called Tom Butter, aged about thirty four years. Witness my hand and seal this second day of January 1798.
