Know all men by these presents that we William Gray, Littleberry W Mason and Robert H Mason are held and firmly bound unto Thomas W Gee Executor of Thomas Gee deceased who was Executor of Charles Gee deceased, in the just and full sum of four thousand three hundred and eighty seven dollars and seventy eight cents, lawful money of Virginia for value received to be paid to the said Thomas W Gee Executor aforesaid, his Executors, Administrators or assigns, to which payment well and timely to be made in [illegible] ourselves, our heirs, Executors and Administrators justly and severally by these presents; sealed with our seals and dates this 1st day of October A.D. 1851.
The above obligation is subject to the following condition, whereas Charles Gee of Sussex County Virginia by his last will and testament which is of record in said county of Sussex, bequeathed to Rose a slave of his, her freedom and also a pecuniary legacy, the amount of which now due principal and interest after deducting all legal costs and commissions is two thousand one hundred and ninety three dollars and eighty nine cents, and whereas Thomas Gee qualified as Executor of said Charles Gee, and having lately died the said Thomas W Gee has qualified as his Executor, and whereas the said emancipated woman Rosa has departed this life intestate, and her daughter Mary Anne is her only heir and is entitled to the said pecuniary legacy which had not yet been settled, and whereas the said Mary Anne has married the above named William Gray, and said Gray being desirous to collect and [illegible] the legacy aforesaid bequeathed to the woman Rosa, the mother of his wife has covenanted and agreed with said Thomas W Gee Executor as aforesaid to fully indemnify and save him harmless against all loss or injury which may accrue to him in consequence of his paying to him the said pecuniary legacy by executing to him an indemnifying bond with good and sufficient security for such purpose. And whereas the said Littleberry W Mason and Robert H Mason have agreed to become his securities in such indemnifying bond, the said Thomas W Gee assenting now to pay over to the said Littleberry W Mason the attorney in fact of said William Gray the said legacy. Now be it known that if the said obligors named above or either of them shall well and truly and fully save and at all times keep harmless the said Thomas W Gee Executor as aforesaid from all damage, injury, and loss in consequence of his paying over the aforesaid legacy to the said William Gray, the husband of said Mary Anne the daughter of said woman Rosa, and shall also pay to the said Thomas W Gee the full proposition and said Rosa’s share of all debts and demand which shall or may be hereafter recovered against the estate of said Charles Gee deceased including principal interest and costs of such recoveries then the above obligation to be [illegible] to remain in full force.

Received of Thomas W Gee Executor of Thomas Gee who was Executor of Charles Gee deceased two thousand one hundred and ninety three dollars and eighty nine cents in full of the pecuniary legacy bequeathed by said Charles Gee by his last will and testament to a woman emancipated by him called Rosa, she having died intestate and her daughter Mary Anne Gray being her only heirs and distributee and now of the City of Cincinnati and the wife of William Gray. Given under my hand this first day of October AD 1851.

At a court held for Sussex County the 4th day of December 1851. This refunding bond and receipt from SW Mason Attorney for William Gray to Thomas W Gee Executor of Thomas Gee dec’d was acknowledged and admitted to record.
