A deed of emancipation by Ann Williamson, John and Richard Williamson and Benjamin Adams of the county of Sussex being convinced that liberty is the birth right of mankind in general and every individual in particular for ourselves, heirs & we do hereby declare George a negro man free from any claim which the laws of the land might entitle us to, and all future incumbrance of the nature of slavery from the first day of November next thenceforth and forever. In witness to which deed we hereunto set our hand and seals this 15th day of October 1796.

At a court held for Sussex County the 2nd day of February 1797. This deed of emancipation was proved to be the act and deed of the subscribing parties by the oaths of John Massenburg and Silvanus Bell two witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
