I Elizabeth Moore do hereby make my last will and testament in the words & figures following.
First I desire that all my debts & funeral expenses be paid out of the money due me.
Secondly I desire & hereby direct my executor to procure good marble head & foot stones with appropriate inscriptions for my grave and if it is not done before my death to procure similar head & foot stones for the grave of my grandson, Samuel Moore, dec’d.
Thirdly I desire & hereby direct my executor to hire out my black boy Mason until the 25th day of December 1863 (eighteen hundred & sixty three) from and which day I hereby emancipate, manumit, liberate & fully & entirely set free the said slave Mason. And my executor is hereby directed to furnish the said boy Mason all the necessary papers and evidence of manumission also to furnish him when he is ready to remove from the state of Virginia (if required to remove by law) a good comfortable suit of clothes and at the same time pay to him the said Mason the sum of fifty dollars to be reserved to him out of his hire.
Fourthly I hereby bequeath to my niece Rebecca [?Kiser?] one half of my house & lot in the village of Mount Crawford in the County of Rockingham, one half of my wearing apparel, one half of the beds, bedsteads & bedding & other household property which I have at my son Charles Moore’s, also one half of the household furniture, silver spoons which I have at my son Samuel Moore’s not other wise herein particularly disposed of. And the sum of ten dollars in money all of which I give to her & her heirs forever.
Fifthly I hereby give & bequeath to my niece Elizabeth [illegible] Margaret Elizabeth oldest daughter of my brother William Baggerton the sum of ten dollars in money and one half of the silver spoons, beds, bedsteads, bedding and other household furniture, which I have at my son Charles Moore’s and my son Samuel Moore’s not hereinafter particularly disposed of, the other half of which I have herein before given to my niece Susan Margaret Kiser to her & her heirs.
Sixthly I give & bequeath to my grand daughter Ann Mariah Moore daughter of my son Charles Moore one half of my house & lot in the Village of Mount Crawford (one half of which I have hereinafter given to my niece Susan Margaret Kiser) I also give my said granddaughter Ann Mariah Moore my new toilet or [illegible] table and my rocking chair, all of which I give to her & her heirs forever.
Seventhly I give to Sarah Jane Grabill, wife of Samuel L. Grabill one half of my wearing apparel and my side saddle to her & her heirs.
Eighthly I desire & hereby direct my executors to aid my brother William Baggerton to the amount of four hundred dollars in the purchase of real estate to be [illegible] free of incumbrance to him for & during his natural life & then to his children to whom (that is his children) I hereby give the said sum so invested to them & their heirs forever. After the death of their father William Baggerton and if not so invested the said sum of four hundred dollars & its interest from & after my death to be paid to them at his death to them & their heirs forever.
Ninth I give to my son Samuel Moore one half of all the residue of my estate not herein before disposed of including the hire of my negro boy Mason to him & his heirs. And the other half of such residue I hereby give & bequeath to the three eldest children of my son Charles Moore viz. Ann Mariah Moore, John W. Moore and Charles Moore Junr or the survivor or survivors of them provided my son Charles Moore makes no charge against my estate after my death for my support. And in the even of such charge by either of my sons, it shall be paid out of what is hereby given to them or their children. In the event of no such charge, the moiety last above named I give to my grand children above named & their heirs.
Lastly I hereby constitute & appoint my son Samuel Moore executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 25th day of February 1837.

At a court held for the County of Shenandoah on Monday the 11th day of Sept 1854 the last will and testament of Elizabeth Moore dec’d was produced into court and proven by the oaths of Absalon Stoneburner and Raphael M. Conn witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. On the motion of Sam’l Moore, the Exor therein named who was sworn and entered into bond with Jos M. Moore & Reuben Moore as his securities in the penalty of $4000 which bond is approved & a certificate for obtaining probate thereof in due form is granted him.
