In the name of God Amen. I Ruth Conn of the County of Shenandoah (late of Frederick) being in a bad state of bodily health, but of sound mind and perfect memory, and knowing the uncertainty of human life do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say – 1st I give unto my brother Raphael Conn and my sister Sarah Duvall, each, one dollar to be paid to them by my Executor hereafter named.
2ndly I give unto my nephews James Conn Jr and Raphael Conn Jr, each, one bed to be delivered by my said Executor.
3rd I give unto my niece Mary Conn my looking glass and my chest.
4th I give unto my brother James Conn, with whom I live all the rest of my estate of whatever [?ruid?] it may be, not hereinbefore mentioned, as well as all debts, legacies &c, that is or may hereafter become due or decreed to me except my three slaves John or Jack, Sylva and Esa which salves, with the increase of Sylva (if any) it is my will and desire shall serve him during his, the said James Conn’s natural life, and after his decease it is my will and desire that they, the said slaves, shall be discharged from all further servitude and I therefore liberate and manumit them after the decease of my said brother James Conn, agreeably to the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. And lastly I do hereby make and appoint my said brother James Conn, Executor of this my last will and testament, desiring that no security shall be required of him for the discharge of the duties deterring to him as my said Executor, and I do hereby revoke any and all other former wills and testaments heretofore made by me.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty fifth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty.

At a court held for the County of Shenandoah on Monday the 9th day of August 1830. The last will and testament of Ruth Conn dec’d was produced in court and proved by the oath of Thomas Brittan a witness thereto and ordered to be certified, and on motion of James Conn, the Executor therein named who was sworn and certificate granted him for obtaining probate thereof in due for of law, the will adjoining no security to be given.

At a court held for the County of Shenandoah on Monday the 13th day of September 1830. The last will and testament of Ruth Conn dec’d was further proved by the affirmation of Henry Forrer a witness thereto and ordered to be recorded.
