Know all men by these presents that I William Lotter of the County of Shenandoah for and in consideration of the high respect I have for my negro man slave named Isaac and his good conduct while in my service have set free and emancipated and do hereby set free and emancipate him the said negro man Isaac and do relinquish all title and claim which I possess in and to him the said negro man Isaac and his services under the laws of Virginia and do so far as I possess the power vest in him all the rights and privileges of a free citizen. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this 11th day of December 1820.
