To all whom these presents shall come, I Daniel Cloud of Shenandoah County and State of Virginia for divers good causes and considerations, have given, manumitted, set free, and forever discharged, and by these presents do give, manumit, set free and forever discharge from slavery my negro man William to be, remain, and continue a free man clear and discharged from the claim of me or my heirs or any other person or persons whatsoever forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 11th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & two.

At a court held for the county of Shenandoah on Monday the 11th day of January 1802, this deed of emancipation from Daniel Cloud to his negro man William was acknowledged and ordered to be recorded, he having been sworn that the said William is upwards of twenty one years of age, and under forty five and that he is of sound mind & body.
