To all to whom these presents shall come, I Jacob Parrott of the County of Shenandoah and State of Virginia, for divers good causes and considerations have given, manumitted, set free, and forever discharged and by these presents to give, manumit, set free and forever discharge from slavery my negro woman Milly to be remain and continue a free woman clear and discharged from the claim of me or my heirs or any other person or persons forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and one.

At a court held for Shenandoah County on Monday the 12th day of January 1801. This deed of emancipation from Jacob Parrott to negro woman Milly was proved by the oaths of Daniel Lee and Daniel Smith, witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And the court upon inspection of the said negro woman Milly do certify that she appears to be of sound mind & body, upwards of eighteen years of age and under forty five.
