Deed of Emancipation
Know all men by these presents that I Robert C. Randolph in my own right and as Exor of Philip Burwell dec’d of the County of Clarke and State of Virginia, do hereby manumit, emancipate and set free from slavery one negro woman named Jenny Martin aged about forty seven years and her five children named Lucy Ellen, Signiora George, Phil and Robert; and I do hereby release give and grant unto the said Jenny Martin and her children as aforesaid, all my right, title and claim, of, in, and to her person, labor and services and to the persons, labor and services of her children as aforesaid, and of, in and to all the estate and property which she or they may hereafter acquire and obtain. Witness our hands and seals this 22nd day of May 1854.

On the 22nd day of May 1854. This deed of emancipation from Randolph to Jenny Martin was produced and acknowledged in open court by Rob. C. Randolph and ordered to be recorded.
