Know all men by these presents that I Henry Stringfellow for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Edward Atkinson of the county of Culpeper have sold and conveyed unto the said Edward Atkinson and Sarah his wife one negro woman named Clary for and during the life or lives of the said Edward Atkinson and Sarah his wife that at the expiration or decease of the said Edward Atkinson and Sarah his wife – that the said contracting parties for dives good causes and considerations them thereunto moving do from that period (that is to say after the death of the said Edward Atkinson and Sarah his wife emancipate and set free the said negro woman named Clary and her increase form this day). In witness whereof the said Henry Stringfellow and Edward Atkinson and Sarah his wife have interchangeably set their hands and seals this 18th day of June 1804.
