Know all men by these, that I Henry Dickenson of the County of Russell and state of Virginia, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifty dollars heretofore to me in hand paid by the said Moses the receipt whereof i[?] hereby acknowledged, have granted quit claim and emancipated the said Moses from the bonds of slavery, from me and my heirs, executor and administration, and I do hereby warrant and defend the right of the said Moses to privileges of freedom, against me my heirs executor & administration, or against the claim or claims of any other person or person claiming under me in any wise howsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand seal this 2nd day of December 1825

This deed of Emancipation from Henry Dickenson to his slave Moses was proven in Court by the oth of Ambrose Hamon one of the subscribing witness thereto to be the Act and deed of the said Dickenson. And at a court held for the said County the 4th day of July 1826. _ This deed was further proved by the Oath of James P Carroll the other subscribing witness thereto to be the Act and deed of the said Dickenson, and Ordered to be recorded.
