Scott County and State of Virginia
June 10th 1828, I do this day bind myself my heirs executors administrators or assigns forever, to Emancipate and set at Liberty forever my black Boy James he serving Eleven years faithful service as is in his power lies or common among slaves, and for my part I do bind myself my heirs executors administrators or assigns to give him good comfortable cloths, diet and beding [sic] and when his time expires to give him a good comfortable suit of cloths in witness I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written
