Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Kean of the Town of Winchester Virginia, do hereby emancipate and set free my slave John Tidball, a mulatto aged about 38 years, in consideration of eight hundred dollars paid to me by Fanny Tidball a free woman the wife of said John Tidball.
Given under my hand & seal this 3rd day of February 1860.

On the 3rd day of February 1860 this deed of emancipation was acknowledged before me Clerk of the Court of the Corporation aforesaid by Joseph Kean party thereto & admitted to record.
