Know all men by these presents that I Lemuel Bent for a good cause and valuable consideration have emancipated and set free and by these presents do emancipate and set free my servant Charles or Charley Morris, hereby granting to said Charles a full and perfect right to his freedom from this time forth quit and discharged from all claims of service on my past.
In testimony of which I have hereto set my hand and seal this 1 day of February 1849.
