Know all men by these presents that I Michael Danner of Winchester Virginia have emancipated & set free & by this instrument do emancipate & set free my negro man Griffin commonly called Griffin Taylor & I hereby discharge & release said negro from all claims to servitude & hereby declare & ordain that he shall be from henceforth a free man. Witness my hand & seal this 20th day of December 1841.

At a court held for the Corporation of Winchester the 1st day of January 1842.
This deed of emancipation was proved by the oaths of Lemuel Bent and David W. Barton witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
