Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Goode of the town of Manchester and County of Chesterfield, for good causes and considerations one thereunto moving have manumitted, emancipated and set free and by these presents for one, my heirs, executors and administrators do manumit, emancipate and forever set free a slave to me at this time belonging that is to say George a mulatto man about twenty seven years of age and do hereby declare the said George to be from henceforth and forever free in as full and effectual a man as if he had been born free. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three.

This deed of emancipation was proved by the oath of Jn Heveningham a witness thereto and continued. And at a court held April 10th in the year aforesaid further & fully proved by the oath of Charles Graves a subscribing witness & ordered to be recorded.
