Know all men by these presents that I John Heveningham of the county of Chesterfield in consideration of the sum of eighty pounds to me in hand paid by Samuel Moody for the use and benefit of a certain negro man named Holly my property have manumitted and do hereby manumit and set free the aforesaid negro man Holly and I hereby covenant to and with the aforesaid Samuel Moody that I have full power right and authority to manumit and set free the said negro in manner herein before expressed. As witness my hand & seal this eleventh day of September 1797.
