To all whom it may concern know ye that I John McNeal of the County of Bath & State of Virginia do by these presents emancipate according to law or an act in the Virginia law made & provided for that purpose one negro girl born June 1st 1797 & named Judith, and also one negro boy born April 8th 1798 named Hiram Grant, and do by these presents forever free & release & emancipate the said Judith when she shall arrive at the age of twenty one years & the boy when he shall arrive at the age of twenty five years & then each of them to be free & clear from all persons whatsoever. As witness my hand & seal this 18th day of April 1806.
