Know all men by these presents that I, Jesse Vanhorn, of the county of Rappahannock and State of Virginia, for and in consideration of the fidelity and extraordinary good conduct of negro woman Jinny, I do hereby emancipate and set free the said Jinny, a slave aged about [blank] years old, and the future liberty of the said negro woman Jinny, I do hereby warrant, and defend free and clear from any claim or claims on the part of myself, my heirs or assigns. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and have affixed my seal this 20th day of August 1839.
