This deed made this thirteenth day of Augt eighteen hundred and fifty two between Mary Sayers and Leander who is about twenty six years of age and a slave belonging to the said Mary Sayers. Witnesseth that for the consideration of the honesty and good conduct of the said Leander, and after this writing shall have been recorded the said Leander shall owe service or labor to no person whomsoever.

Wythe County to wit
I John Sanders a Justice for the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do certify that Mary Sayers whose name is signed to the writing above bearing date the 13th day of August 1852 has acknowledged the same before me in my said county aforesaid. Given under my hand this 13th day of August 1852.

Virginia: At a court held for Wythe County at the Courthouse on Monday the 13th December 1852.
This deed of emancipation was returned to court and with the certificate of acknowledgment annexed ordered to be recorded.
