In the name of God Amen. I Elonor Pool of the County of Wythe being weak in body but of sound mind knowing the uncertainty of human life and that it is appointed unto man once to die and being desirous to make such arrangements with my temporal [illegible] as to me it seemeth most just and equitable do hereby make my last will & testament in manner and form following to wit. First, I desire after my decease that my mortal body be interred in the earth from whence it come and my immortal soul return to that God who gave it. Secondly, I desire and hereby direct that my slave Henry Pool be emancipated and that my executor obtain from the Clerk of the Court where this instrument is recorded all the necessary papers to enable him to maintain his freedom where he may desire to emigrate and all the necessary expenses attendant thereon to be paid out of the money arising out of my estate. Thirdly, I desire that as soon after my decease as is convenient that my property both real and personal be sold and out of the proceeds thereof all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and that the surplus be divided equally between my three grand children to wit: Eloner & Catharine [?Con?] and Martha Wilkason to be theirs and their heirs forever. Fourth and lastly I do hereby ordain nominate constitute and appoint Joseph W Davis Executor of my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 24th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five.

Virigina: At a court held for Wythe County at the Courthouse on Monday the 8th day of August 1836.
This the last will and testament of Eleanor Pool was presented in court proved by the oaths of F.P. Straley, Henry Etter and William S. Williams the subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded.
And on the motion of Joseph W. Davis the Exor named in said will who took the oath required by law and together with Robert Gibboney his security entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $600 conditioned as the law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining probate of said will in due form.
