Know all mankind that I George Conway Taylor of the county of Orange have thought it proper to emancipate & manumit, and do hereby emancipate, manumit & declare free Penny, a mulatto girl heretofore my property, and in testimony thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of November 1799.

At a court continued & held for the county of Wythe the 13th day of November 1799. This deed of emancipation from George Conway Taylor to Penny a mulatto girl, the property of the said George Conway Taylor was exhibited in court & person by the oaths of Alexander Smyth, D. Sheffey & Stephen Sanders the witnesses thereto whereupon the same was ordered to be recorded.
