Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Samson of Madison County and State of Virginia for divers good causes and considerations do hereby discharge the two following slaves to wit, Esther a female slave about twenty five years of age and Sarah a female slave about twenty three years of age, and do by these presents emancipate and set free the said two female slaves and their future increase if any from the date hereof and I do hereby relinquish all and every claim which I and my heirs might have had to the service of the said slaves and to the service of their future issue if any. In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this [blank] day of [blank] one thousand eight hundred and four.

This deed of emancipation from Thomas Samson to Esther and Sarah was in open court acknowledged by the said Thomas Samson and ordered to be recorded.
