I Benjamin Estill of the Town of Arlington County of Washington and State of Virginia for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving (to wit) for and in consideration of the long faithful services, the honesty and good character and the extraordinary merit of my negro man named Gull and duty of restoring to the natural rights of man him who has faithfully served for a great number of years my father and myself and shewn by his uniform good charter and conduct his capacity to enjoy his freedom without abusing it do by these presents emancipate and set free forever my said negro man Gull intending hereby to restore him to all the rights privileges and immunities which the law of his county permit to be enjoyed by free persons of color. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal Jonesville in the County of Lee where the said Gull now resides this third day of April in the year of our Lord 1816.Benjamin Estill (seal)
