Know all men by these presents that I Jesse Hylton of Carroll County and State of Virginia for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear to my son Rober Hylton of said county as well as for the further consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid by the said Robert Hylton at or before the ensealing and delivery of the presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given and granted and by these presents so give and grant unto the said Robert Hylton first his freedom which is 8 months his exrs, adm, and assigns the following to wit: one horse, 3 head of cattle, ten head of hogs together with all the household and kitchen furniture that is in my possession and three head of sheep, one set of horse gears, one plow and [illegible], one bee stand also all my possession whereas I now live with all the growing crop, also all my farming tools and axes to have and to hold the above named property unto him the said Robert Hylton his exrs, admrs and assigns forever and the said Jesse Hylton for himself his exrs, admrs, the said property unto the said Robert Hylton his exrs, admrs, & assigns against the claim of him the said Jesse Hylton, his ers, admrs, and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend them by these presents. In witness whereof I set my hand and affixed my seal this 6th day of July 1846.
