Know all men by these presents that I Eleanor Patton of the county of Pulaski and State of Virginia have manumitted and set at liberty, and by these presents do manumit and set at liberty my negro man slave named George, and my negro woman slave named Phillis. The said negroes each to be absolutely free from this date. Witness my hand and seal this 18th day of May 1859.

Virginia: In the Clerkâs Office of Pulaski County the 21st day of May 1859. This deed of emancipation from Eleanor Patton to George and Phillis dated the 18th day of May 1859 was presented in said office acknowledged by the said Eleanor Patton to be her act and deed and admitted to record.
