Know all men by these presents that I Jacob Shearman of the County of Pulaski and State of Virginia have and do by these presents manumit, emancipate and set free my negro girl slave named Sarah, to take effect from and after my death. Witness my hand and seal this 10th day of September 1857.

This deed of emancipation from Jacob Shearman to Sarah dated the 10th day of September 1857 was presented in court acknowledged by the said Jacob Shearman to be his act and deed and ordered to be recorded.
