Know all men by these presents that I Mary E Venable of the County of Prince Edward and State of Virginia, for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred & fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Isaac Coles of Pennsylvania (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) have manumitted & set free & emancipated & do hereby emancipate & set free from slavery my negro woman Icey Coles (wife of said Isaac Coles) aged about forty years. And I do hereby give, grant and release the said Icey Coles all my right, title and claim of and in & to her person, labor & services, and of, in & to all the estate and property which she may hereafter acquire or obtain. Witness my hand and seal this thirty first day of July in the year eighteen hundred and fifty one.
