This indenture made and entered into this first day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred. Witnesseth that I John Nash of Prince Edward County of Virginia for divers good causes and consideration hereunto specially moving more especially for the many faithful services rendered to me by Toney Boyles a slave have by these presence emancipated and set at liberty the said negro free from the control power or authority of him the said John Nash his heirs Executors Administrators or assigns under any pretense whatsoever freely and voluntarily relinquishing all claim to the said Toney Boyles as a slave or command over him for future services having hereby vested in him the said Toney Boyles full power peaceably to enjoy his freedom as a citizen of the United States without any lawful let or interruption of him the said John Nash his heirs executors or administrators or any of them to remain free & freely and clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged & to remain free from hence forward to the end of his life. To the intent and purpose that by these presents and the Act of Assembly impowering the owners of slaves to liberate them under certain limitations he the said Toney Boyles doth accede to the covenants entered into by his late owner. In testimony whereof he the said John Nash hath set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.

At a court held for Prince Edward County December 15th 1800. This deed was presented in court and proved by Charles F. Nash one of the witnesses thereto and at another court held for said county January 19th 1801 This deed was presented in court and further proved by Abner Nash another witness thereto and ordered to be recorded.
