In the name of God Amen. I Addison Pearson of the County of Greensville and State of being of sound mind and disposing memory do make this to be my last will & testament in manner and form following to wit:
Item, the first, I give and bequeath unto Mary O Pearson daughter of James S Pearson one negro woman Clarisy and four children to wit: Jones, William, Lucy & Washington and their future increase, which negroes is to be under the management of James S. Pearson until the said Mary O. Pearson arrives to lawful age or marries, if she should die leaving no lawful heir of her body, it is my will and desire that the said negroes and their increase shall be equally divided between the living children of James S. Pearson. Item the 2nd I loan to my brother James S. Pearson during his natural life the following negroes to wit: Silvey, Ben, Parham, Esham and Logan, and at his death, to be equally divided between his living children with the exception of Mary O. Pearson with the liberty to remove the said negroes to any place he may think proper, without giving any security whatever.
Item. The 3rd I leave under the direction of James S Pearson a negro woman by the name of Susan and child Dolly to be kept and managed by him until one year after my death, at that time my will and desire is that they shall be carried to the State of Ohio, and set free, and all expenses paid out of my estate, also for them to have one years support. I further lend my whole estate for their emancipation.
Item the 4th I loan to Dolly, a negro woman I carried from this county and freed by me in the State of Ohio, one tract of land in Green County Ohio containing one hundred acres be the same more or less, as long as she lives and at her death my will and desire is that it shall be equally divided between her children she carried with her from this county.
Item the 5th I give and bequeath unto my brother James S Pearson him his heirs and assigus all of my lands whereon I now live together with every other species of property I possess both real and personal including bonds and accounts and money.
Lastly, I constitute and appoint my brother James S Pearson Executor to this my last will and testament, revoking all other wills made by me heretofore and it is my wish and desire that the said James S Pearson shall give no security of any kind whatsoever upon his qualification upon my estate. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 26th day of April 1840.

At a Court held for the County of Greensville the 6th day of July 1840. This paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Addison Pearson was this day presented to the court proved according to law by the oaths of Tamlin Avent and Thomas Johnson two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded, and on the motion of James S Pearson the executor therein named who made oath thereto, and entered into bond in the penalty of $20000 conditioned as the law directs (no security being required of him according to the will), certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of said will in due form.
