Wickham & their heirs forever my plantations of North Wales in Caroline & Broadkeep in Hanover with my slaves, stock, money & property real & personal of every kind and description and I appoint them executors of this will & desire that no security be required of them. Witness my hand & seal this 17th day of July 1864.

The above will was signed and acknowledged before us
T.L. Gregory
John A. Allen
Anne Butler Berkley
Codicil to the will of Wm Carter
Should my nephews Parker Farley Berkley or Carter Lee be indebted to me for my money I have advanced to them, I hereby release all claim against them for the amount I lent to my nephew one of the sons of the late John Hill Carter five hundred dollars. I desire he may not be required to pay that debt. I give to my niece Anne Butler Berkely seven thousand dollars due me from the Confederate States of America – W.F. Wickham heirs the certificate, my executors and to hold the same for her exclusive benefit free from all claim on the part of her husband or his creditors to be disposed of by transfer or will as she may think proper & if she dies without making any disposition thereof, then at her death to go to her children.
Whereas I may be entitled under her marriage settlement to a share of my dear grand child Georgianna’s estate, - I wish my nephew her husband Wm H.F. Lee to have it as his own property absolutely.
I desire my two servants Margaret & Sally the first living with a man named Charles, I think in Richmond and Sally with man Saul R.E. Lee to be emancipated with any offspring they may have as soon as funds shall be established in the country and that my Executors will provide a reasonable & moderate sum for their removal from the State of Virginia & their future support whether they remain or not. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this 30th day of July 1864.
