I Sarah Gary of Prince George County in Virginia after full and deliberate consideration and agreeable to our Bill of Rights am fully persuaded that freedom is the natural right all mankind and that no law moral divine hath given me a just right or property in the persons of any of my fellow creations and desirous to fulfill the injunction of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by doing to all others as I would be done by, do hereby set free from bondage two negro girls- Amey aged fifteen years, but as the said girl is yet in her nonage I desire to have the care guardianship and instruction of the said girl till she arise at full age, which happen May 15, 1793, Leddy aged eleven months, but as the said girl is yet in her nonage I desire to have the guardianship and instruction of the said girl till she arrive at full age which happen January 15 1807 at which several periods I discharge the said girls from any engagement to me or any person claiming under me, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 12th day of February in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight.

At a court held for Prince George County at the Court House on Tuesday the sixth day of February 1788. This foregoing deed for the emancipation of Sarah Gary’s slaves therein named being proved by the witnesses thereto is by order of court truly recorded.
