In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Stewart of the County of Dinwiddie being sick in body but in perfect sense & memory do make and ordain this my last will & testament in manner and form following, hereby revoking all other wills heretofore made.
Imprimis I give to my daughter Molly one dollar to her & her heirs forever.
Item I give to my daughter Sally twenty five pounds to her & her heirs forever.
Item I give to my son James one dollar to him & his heirs forever. I also give to the children of my deceased daughter Tabitha one dollar to them & their heirs forever.
Item I give to my son William fifty pounds to him and his heirs forever.
Item I give & bequeath to my son Armistead the land & plantation whereon I now live together with the five following named negroes & their increase Peter, Miles, Jerry, little Dinah and little Frank also two beds & furniture and four horses such as he may choose all which I give unto him and his heirs forever.
Item I give unto my son Joseph two negroes Bob and Len my young filly and one horse next choice after Armistead’s choice – I also give to my grandson Richard son of Joseph one negro boy named [?Kinston?] all which against the claim of all those who may in any wise claim under me.
Item My will & desire is that the old place where I formerly lived should be sold & one moiety of the profits to be given to my son John at the discretion of my Executors or as they may from time to time think that my said son may need & at his decease if any remaining my will & desire that it should be given to his children.
Item My will and desire is that my Executors should fund the following boys to school two years each, whom I have emancipated in a preceding clause of this my last will & then bound to some good trade.
Item My will and desire is that the children of my son John should be schooled three years each at the expense of my estate.
Item My will and desire is that all the rest of my estate not before willed should be sold and with the profits all my just debts to be paid & the surplus if any to be given to my son Armistead & my beloved wife for their natural benefit.
Lastly I nominate & appoint Peter Robinson Joseph Harding and Henry Cousins Executors of this my last will & testament wishing and desiring that the court should require no security nor bond for the performance of their trust & that in all matters of controversy touching the premises my Executors shall be at liberty to have & decision by [illegible] if possible.
