Text of Freedom Document
In name of God Amen. I Gray Edmunds do make this my last will & testament, to wit, I give all my negores their freedom except Mol. Item I give my land to Thomas Edmunds Gary and Henry Gary to be equal divided between them. Item I leave Mol and the balance of my estate to be sold & equally devided betweet the following legacees namely Vines Turner Thomas E ary Henry Gary Edmunds Shelly & Littlebeary Baugh. I appoint Vines Turner, Thomas Edmunds Gary & Henry Gary my Executors to this my last will & testament as witness my hand this 21st May 1802.

Brunswick County Court December 27th 1802
This last will & testament of Gray Edmunds dec’d was presented in court by Vines Turner & Henry Gary two of the Executors therein named and there being no witness thereunto subscribed Abraham Vaughan & William Bauvell being first duly sworn deposeth that they are well acquanted with the hand writing of the said testator & verily believe the said will & name thereto subscribed to be wholly written by the said testator and the court being thereof satisfied the same is ordered to be recorded & on the motion of Vines Turner & Henry Gary two of the Executors therein named who made oath thereto according to law & together with Abraham Vaughan, Seth Turbefill, Littleberry Baugh, & David Kirkland their securities entered into & acknowledged a bond in the penalty of ten thousand dollars certificate is granted these for obtaining a probate thereof in due form, liberty being reserved the other Exor therein named to join in the probate when he thinks fit.
