To all whom it may concern know ye that I Hubbard Saunders of Brunswick County and State of Virginia do by these presents emancipate and set at full liberty from my heirs & all persons claiming under me the following negro slave named Meggy on the first day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixteen together with the future increase of the said negro woman Meggy to be born free but to serve me my heirs & until the said increase (if there be any) the females until they severally arrive to the age of twenty one years and the males until they severally arrive to the age of twenty five years respectively. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 24th day of July 1797.
