Know all men by these presents, that I Frances B Gibson of the County of Prince William and State of Virginia for and in consideration of the great fidelity of my bond servant William Chinn, and moved by the motives of affection and philanthropy have manumitted emancipated and set free my said bond servant bond William Chinn and by these presents do manumit, emancipate and set free the said William Chinn, and it is my wish that this my act and deed of emancipation may be duly certified to the clerk of the county court of Fauquier that the said clerk may issue and deliver to the said William Chinn his “free papers” or duly attested copy of his free register.
In testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and seal this the 22nd day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty five.

I Allen Harrison Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do certify that Frances B Gibson whose name is signed to the writing above bearing the 22nd day of February 1865 has acknowledged the same before me in my county aforesaid.
