Know all men by these presents that I Edward Hall of the County of Fauquier in the State of Virginia for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid, as well as for divers other causes and considerations me thereunto moving, hath manumitted and set free forever, my slave Christian King who is a negro woman aged about thirty years and I do by these presents forever manumit and set free her the said Christian King and release her from bondage and service to me and my heirs, executors, and administrators forever; In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th day of May 1857.
