Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Chilton of the County of Fauquier and State of Virginia have this day manumitted liberated and set free Camelia Johnston the wife of Wellington Johnston the said Camelia having been this day purchased by me of George Sullivan with funds furnished me by said Luke Johnston the father of said Wellington who has requested me to execute this deed of Emancipation and I do hereby declare the said Camelia Johnston a free woman and fully discharged from all right title & claim on my part and on the part of said Luke Johnston to her services and I hereby bind myself my heirs & to make hereafter any other or further writing which may be necessary fully to perfect her right to freedom. Given under my hand and seal this 30th day of March 1846.
