Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Burroughs of the County of Fauquier State of Virginia have this day manumitted, emancipated and set free and by these presents do manumit, emancipate and set free a negro man slave named Milford otherwise called Milford James, the said Milford being a negro man dark complexion and about thirty seven years of age. Given under my hand and seal the 22nd day of Oct. 1849.
