Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Burroughs of the County of Fauquier State of Virginia have this day manumitted, emancipated and set free & by these presents do manumit, emancipate and set free a negro man slave named George Payne and said George Payne being a black man about sixty five years of age.
Given under my hand and seal this 29th day of August 1849.
