Know all men by these presents that I Elizabeth Powell of the County of Fauquier in the Commonwealth of Virginia pursuant to the 36th Section of the act of General Assembly entitled “an Act to reduce into one the Several Acts Concerning Slaves, Free Negroes, and Mulattoes” have manumitted, liberated and set free and by these presents do manumit, liberate and set free to all intents and purposes one negro man named Will which said negro man I purchased at public sale of my fathers estate. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of January in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & one.
