To all to whom these presents shall come, know ye that I Gideon Johnson of the County of Fauquier in the Commonwealth for divers good causes and consideration have emancipated and set free and by these presents do for me my heirs, and all claiming or to claim by from through or under me or them, fully, freely and absolutely liberate & emancipate and set free one negro woman slave called and known by the name of Judy Patience which said negro I purchased of Mason Joseph Beachwell of Fauquier Courthouse. Witness my hand and seal this 26th day of a March 1800.
